Penelope Victorian emerald and diamond engagement ring
When I first tried Penelope on, I admit I let out a gasp of joy. She is such a beautiful example of late Victorian jewellery design, from the elegant emerald-cut emerald to the oxidised sterling silver setting, which was used in the Victorian era to get the beautifully “aged” patina that gives this ring its authentic antique look. The emerald-cut emerald, which has been assessed to be good quality, is quite clearly the star of the show. With a luminous green hue and striking linear silhouette, it weighs just over a carat and is secured in place by four claws. A diamond halo encircles this captivating emerald, with two of the diamonds set within sculpted pear-shaped surrounds – an eye-catching detail designed to focus the attention on the beautiful centre stone.
